What do you want to be when you grow up? Growing up I found that question to be quite unnerving. I knew what I wanted to be, but was never confident enough to really go after it. I settled to go to college to become someone that I knew was not. I knew what I really wanted to be, but was afraid to even admit that I could want more for my life. Now looking back, I have ended up living my dream … and helping others to do the same. As I went into adulthood, I discovered my greatest joy was in investing in others. Helping them to discover their dreams and goals and then working with them to become true to those dreams and make them come true. Their success became my success. That is why I Life Coach … I want to be here to help you to become amazing! Through the years I have helped people work through loss of jobs, the discovery that what they are doing is not what they expected, working below their potential. Now, disillusioned, they need to dream a new dream and move forward in their lives. Through the process of helping others, I have had some really great things happen along the way. Some times a life coach’s job helps make change that is planned for and sometimes he just “shows up” and discovers later that he did some good. I just got an e mail this week that kind of illustrates what I am saying: “Don’t know if I ever told you how much you helped me on several occasions when I was going through really hard times. I can remember one day being so upset and wishing I could talk to you and you all came by a few days later. I then added to my skills when I took classes from an amazing trainer in San Diego, Kevin Cole of Empowerment Quest, International (http://www.nlptrainingquest.com). With his training I became a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and a Certified NLP Life Coach. With that set of tools in my “tool kit” that includes Critical Incident Stress Management (specialized training to help individuals in crisis), I discovered that much of what I have done through the years was solid and life changing. The NLP allowed me to help people see themselves differently and work through the issues that are like accidentally dropping a 1000 piece puzzle out of the box all over the floor. I now have an organized way that is successful, tried and true way of helping others become balanced at home, at work and in life. Grief and loss happen to us all

Many times after the loss of a loved one, a loved job, a broken relationship or even a favorite pet, we go through a time of grieving. Grieving does not happen by dates on a calendar or impact everyone the same. This is a topic that allows for questions and answers on a topic that will impact us all at some time. Sometimes people where we work, go to school or even family and friends who mean well will suggest that you need to "get over it". The truth is that grieving is a process and not a single decision. We work through grief. It can take a few weeks to even over a year. Without assistance beyond those impacted by the loss, for many people, we can never see the end of the way we feel. It can feel dark, lonely, overwhelming and yet illogical. If you find yourself not being able to sleep at night, with changes in your eating habits, feeling like being alone for extended periods of time, avoiding the people we love and work with, reoccurring bouts of overwhelming depression, you may find yourself trapped in "self medication" with alcohol, prescription or illegal drugs or a list of other compulsive behaviors ..... you need help and we can help you. Having different responses emotionally from usual (either not seeming to feel or by being overwhelmed with emotion) you are not alone. There is a process that we must move through to go from the immediate loss, through the various stages of grief toward resolution which can make us stronger in the end. Getting our Focus In The Right Place

That video is so funny! But... what it says for many of us is that we are for sale. Now, I don't mean "physically"... but who we are and what we do when no one is watching defines us in the moment. So many would say " I'm not like that" or "I want to be known as this" or even "everyone expects me to be like this". The challenge is, what do you do when no one is watching. What really controls your decisions, and therefore, your life? I have been sharing with people for almost 30 years a slogan that changed my life. "What runs your life becomes your God." I have had some folks say "Hey, I am not a religious person, so I am disqualified from the discussion." What makes the discussion so powerful is that we are controlled by something ... friends, food, money, things, television, movies, sex, internet ... and the list goes on. You can change the sentence slightly and see it's power. " If friends control my life they become my god." "If money controls my life it has become my god" and on and on and on. Most of us would never consider ourselves prostitutes... if our price to change our life from our genuine heartfelt values is money, or friends, or time on the internet, or watching TV ... if we are different BECAUSE of that ... it has become the price we sell our selves out for... it is the god of our life. I have a good friend that needed approval and popularity. Over a period of 6 months between times we saw each other ... he had become a different person. He had changed his hairstyle, clothing, the words he used, and saw everything through the filter of this new god. His once compassionate heart for the hurting was now hardened over because his new friends just thought of the hurting as losers ... and slowly ... not detected by him ... he had changed profoundly. He almost paid the ultimate price ... even his view of life and judgment toward others had been sold out to the approval to this new found popularity. For a period of years he was considered “dead” to those who had loved the “original” him. Through the years I have seen it happen again and again. Folks once admired for their honesty and transparency, now have calloused over into someone different. This happens in lots of ways. I know a person that had a real difficult marriage and home life. His escape was internet where his was known as cool, unshakable, always there for others. Yet, at home, he and his wife became more and more distant. The distance turned a once happy couple into strangers living under the same roof. This once very Godly man compromised so much that he eventually met someone over the internet and ran away to meet her, leaving his wife and kids with no idea what was even going on. When he finally met the person that he was spending all his time online with... she was not who he expected... he was not who she expected... and when they both realized the problem... they both lost everything for the price of stolen moments of internet "joy." My challenge to you is ... who are you really? Who are you when the lights are off? Who are you online? Who are you and how do you change if someone interrupts you favorite TV shows? What runs your life? Being a Life Coach is not about instant gratification. It is about helping you get in touch with who you really are, what you really want, what your dreams are. It is asking the hard questions. "What are you willing to change for this to happen?" "Are you willing to pay the price for change, even if it is high, and risk the changes to your life?" "What would need to happen before you would be motivated to change?" "Is what you are doing helping you move forward and discover your goals lived out?" The discussion is yours... but the question remains "What runs your life?" Has it become your god? Are you ready for change? I am here to help..... How about that hint.... We are custom made with God's trademark built in the innermost fiber of our being. If God cared enough to build every single cell in your body with his "trademark" in it ... then ... how much does He care for the finished product? And then, how much more beyond that does He care for every thought you think, choice you choose and decision you make. I am convinced, without the shadow of a doubt that God who made us to love, has redeemed us from our sinful ways by the shed blood of His son Jesus. It would take some kind of mind numbingly powerful God to be willing to send His son to die for the condemned, in their places. Just as any company or inventor leaves their "mark" or design or logo to identify who created it, God has left his mark on us down to the molecular level. Be assured, good times and bad, God loves us, created us to love, and has an amazing story to be lived out through our lives. Don't let this slip by ....
